Amazon FBA fees in 2026 come in five buckets: a referral fee (usually 15% of the sale), a fulfillment fee per unit ($2.43–$7.55+ for standard sizes), monthly storage ($0.78/cu ft most of the year), and two newer charges — the low-inventory-level fee and the inbound placement service fee. Most sellers in a 15% category shipping a 1–2 lb item pay Amazon $9–$12 per sale all-in.
The good news: 2026 is not a big fee-hike year. Amazon nudged fulfillment fees up $0.05–$0.31 per unit on January 15, added a 3.5% fuel surcharge on April 17, and left referral fees untouched. The bad news: the fee stack has more moving parts than ever. This guide lays out every rate, cites the official Seller Central pages, and shows what actually changed versus 2025.

Every item sold on Amazon pays a referral fee — a percentage of the total price the buyer pays, including shipping and gift wrap. Most categories sit at 15% with a $0.30 per-item minimum. The exceptions that matter:
- 8%: Computers, Consumer Electronics, Full-Size Appliances, Video Game Consoles
- 12%: Automotive and Powersports; Business, Industrial & Scientific
- Tiered: Clothing (5% ≤$15 / 10% $15–$20 / 17% >$20); Baby & Beauty (8% ≤$10 / 15% above); Grocery (8% ≤$15 / 15% above); Jewelry (20% ≤$250 / 5% above); Watches (16% ≤$1,500 / 3% above)
- 45%: Amazon Device Accessories — avoid unless that’s literally your product

2. FBA fulfillment fees (2026 rate card)
The fulfillment fee covers picking, packing, shipping, customer service and returns. Since 2025 it varies by price band as well as size and weight. These are the non-peak rates in effect January 15 – October 14, 2026 (non-apparel):
| Size tier · weight | <$10 | $10–$50 | >$50 |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small standard · 2 oz | $2.43 | $3.32 | $3.58 |
| Small standard · 8 oz | $2.66 | $3.54 | $3.80 |
| Small standard · 16 oz | $2.95 | $3.96 | $4.22 |
| Large standard · 8 oz | $3.13 | $3.95 | $4.21 |
| Large standard · 1 lb | $3.78 | $4.60 | $4.86 |
| Large standard · 2 lb | $5.00 | $5.82 | $6.08 |
| Large standard · 3 lb | $5.85 | $6.67 | $6.93 |
| Large standard · 3–20 lb | $6.15 + $0.08/4 oz | $6.97 + $0.08/4 oz | $7.23 + $0.08/4 oz |

| Extra-large 0–50 lb | $25.56 + $0.38/lb | $26.33 + $0.38/lb | |
| Extra-large 50–150 lb | $36.55–$51.32 + $0.75/lb over the band minimum | ||
Apparel has its own (slightly higher) card, and dangerous goods another. Rates above exclude the 3.5% fuel surcharge. Official source: 2026 US FBA fulfillment fee changes.
Three rules to remember:
- Dimensional weight bites. Large standard and bulky tiers bill the greater of unit weight or (L×W×H ÷ 139). Small standard and 150+ lb extra-large use unit weight only.
- Under $10 is its own world. Low-Price FBA rates average $0.86 cheaper per unit than the $10+ band — a genuine subsidy for cheap items.
- SIPP can cut fees. Standard-size products certified for Ships in Product Packaging get automatic fulfillment-fee discounts.
3. What changed in 2026 vs 2025
| Change | Effective | Impact |
|---|---|---|
| Standard items $10–$50: +$0.08/unit avg (small std +$0.25, large std +$0.05) | Jan 15, 2026 | Minor margin squeeze on the most common price band |
| Items under $10: +$0.05 avg; large standard unchanged | Jan 15, 2026 | Low-price discount grows to $0.86/unit vs $10+ band |
| Items over $50: +$0.31/unit avg | Jan 15, 2026 | Pays for better returns and faster removals |
| Small bulky: $9.61 → $7.55 base ($10–$50 band) | Jan 15, 2026 | A rare fee cut — bulky sellers win |
| 3.5% fuel & logistics surcharge on all US fulfillment fees | Apr 17, 2026 | Adds ~$0.11–$0.25 to a typical standard unit |
| Holiday peak rates return | Oct 15, 2026 – Jan 14, 2027 | ~$0.19–$0.82 more per standard unit in Q4 |
| Low-inventory fee now measured per seller-FNSKU and extended to bulky tiers | Jan 15, 2026 | Fairer, but bulky sellers can now be charged too |
| Inbound placement fee: +$0.05 avg for standard sizes; new weight bands | Jan 15, 2026 | Single-destination inbound gets pricier |
| New Overmax handling fee for extra-large items over 96″ or 130″ length+girth | Jan 15, 2026 | Only hits the biggest items |
4. Monthly storage fees
Storage is charged per cubic foot per month, based on your daily average volume:
| Size tier | Jan–Sep | Oct–Dec |
|---|---|---|
| Standard-size | $0.78 / cu ft | $2.40 / cu ft |
| Oversize | $0.56 / cu ft | $1.40 / cu ft |
Q4 storage costs roughly triple. If it won’t sell by December, keep it in a 3PL or Amazon Warehousing & Distribution and drip-feed FBA. High storage-utilization sellers also pay a storage utilization surcharge, and inventory aged 181+ days picks up an aged-inventory surcharge. Details: Monthly inventory storage fees.
5. The two “new” fees you must manage
Low-inventory-level fee
Amazon wants 4+ weeks of stock in its network. If both your trailing 30-day and 90-day days of supply fall below 28, it adds a per-unit fee on top of fulfillment:
| Size tier | 0–14 days | 14–21 days | 21–28 days |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small standard ≤16 oz | $0.89 | $0.63 | $0.32 |
| Large standard ≤3 lb | $0.97 | $0.70 | $0.36 |
| Large standard 3–20 lb | $1.11 | $0.87 | $0.47 |
| Small / Large bulky | $1.85 / $2.09 | $1.02 / $1.15 | $0.51 / $0.57 |
Exemptions: products selling fewer than 20 units/week, grocery, new sellers (first 365 days), and new-to-FBA products (first 180 days with FBA New Selection). Source: Low-inventory-level fee.
Inbound placement service fee
When you create a shipment, Amazon offers two paths. Spread inventory across the fulfillment centers it recommends (Amazon-optimized splits) and pay no placement fee. Or send everything to one or two locations and pay roughly $0.21–$0.40+ per standard unit, with bulky items running into the dollars. Extra-large items are exempt. Sometimes paying the fee beats multi-destination freight — do the math per shipment, not by habit. Source: FBA inbound placement service fee.
Worked example: total 2026 fees on one unit
Rate tables are hard to hold in your head, so here is one complete pass. Product: a $34.99 bamboo cutting board, Home & Kitchen category, large standard, 2.5 lb shipping weight, 0.15 cu ft packaged.
- Referral fee: 15% × $34.99 = $5.25
- Fulfillment fee: large standard 2.25+ to 2.5 lb, $10–$50 band = $6.10 (add 3.5% fuel surcharge from April 17, 2026 → about $6.31)
- Storage: 0.15 cu ft × $0.78 = $0.12/month Jan–Sep (or $0.36 in Q4)
- Inbound placement: $0 if you accept Amazon-optimized splits; roughly $0.25–$0.35 if you consolidate to one FC
- Low-inventory-level fee: $0 as long as days of supply stays at 28+
Total Amazon take in the best case: $11.37, or 32.5% of the sale price, leaving $23.62 before your product cost. That’s the number to build your sourcing decision around. If the board costs you $9 landed, you keep $14.62 — healthy. If it costs $16, you’re at $7.62 and one coupon away from mediocrity.
Apparel sellers should note that clothing runs on a slightly higher rate card — a large standard 1.5 lb apparel item pays $6.04 in the $10–$50 band versus $5.42 for non-apparel — and clothing referral fees are tiered (5% ≤$15 / 10% $15–$20 / 17% above $20).

Calculate my exact fees →6. The small print worth knowing
- Professional plan: $39.99/month. Individual plan: no subscription but $0.99 per item sold — the crossover is 40 sales a month.
- Returns processing fee: applied to shipped units in categories with high return rates; apparel and shoes historically feel this most.
- Removal, disposal, liquidation orders: charged per unit when you clear stock — cheaper than aged-inventory surcharges if items won’t move.
- Refund administration fee: the lesser of $5.00 or 20% of the referral fee when you refund a buyer.

Frequently asked questions
What are the main Amazon FBA fees in 2026?
Five: the referral fee (usually 15% of the total sale price), the FBA fulfillment fee ($2.43–$7.55+ for standard sizes by weight and price band), monthly storage ($0.78/cu ft standard Jan–Sep, $2.40 Oct–Dec), the low-inventory-level fee ($0.32–$2.09 when stock runs under 28 days of supply), and the inbound placement service fee for single-destination shipments.
Are Amazon referral fees different in 2026?
No. Amazon left US referral fees unchanged for 2026. Most categories remain 15% with a $0.30 per-item minimum. Computers and consumer electronics are 8%, automotive 12%, and clothing runs 5%–17% by price point.
When do 2026 peak FBA fees apply?
Holiday peak fulfillment rates apply to units shipped from October 15, 2026 through January 14, 2027. Non-peak rates apply January 15 – October 14, 2026. The 3.5% fuel surcharge stacks on top of both from April 17, 2026.
How much is the FBA fuel surcharge in 2026?
3.5% of the fulfillment fee, effective April 17, 2026 for US FBA (May 2 for Buy with Prime and Multi-Channel Fulfillment). On a $5.04 fulfillment fee that is about $0.18 per unit.
What is the cheapest way to ship inventory into FBA?
Choose Amazon-optimized shipment splits. Sending inventory to all recommended fulfillment centers waives the inbound placement service fee entirely. Consolidating to one location costs roughly $0.21–$0.40+ per standard unit in 2026.
